Join 500 Muslims from across the state of Washington!
We will march together to the Capitol Building, rally at the Capitol Steps, meet in groups with our state lawmakers in their offices, and tour the State Capitol Building and Campus, and learn how to have our voices heard!
Round-trip transportation to Olympia:
You may sign up (see registration form) to take our bus from one of our pick-up points, or simply drive your own vehicle.

HOW TO REGISTER
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED
YOU MAY REGISTER AT THE DOOR FOR $25 PER PERSON
One of our Office Volunteer Activists will call you to confirm your registration details within a week after you register.
We will then send you educational materials via e-mail, to help you prepare for the event. These will include a detailed event program, fact sheets on the issues your group will discuss in your meetings with lawmakers, etc.

Lodging Information for those Arriving a day early from Central/Eastern WA
CAIR-WA will not be responsible for lodging fees. There are a variety of hotels near the Capitol Campus with whom we will negotiate group rates. Please contact us or visit this web site by late December for names of hotels and rates. We may be able to help you find host families in Olympia who can host you. Please contact us to add you to our list.

EVENT PROGRAM (Tentative)
- (7AM – Buses pick up from various locations around the state)
- 9AM - Breakfast Reception at Olympia Center.
- 9:30AM – Welcome
- 9:45AM – Training role-plays: "How to Meet with your Legislator"
- 10:30AM – March to the State Capitol building
- 10:50AM – Rally at the Capitol Steps!
- 11AM to 2PM – Meetings with your legislators
- 2:15PM – Duhr and Asr prayers
- 2:30PM – Lunch and fundraising
- 3:30PM – Reflection and strategy: Groups plan and document exact action steps on developing long term relationships with lawmakers met they met.
- 4PM – Closing remarks
- 4:15PM – Maghreb prayer in hallway
- 4:30PM – Social Hour
- 5PM – Buses depart.

Exciting Activities During your Free Time:
Times TBA: Other organizations’ rallies on Capitol Steps.
Take guided Capitol Building tours, offered every hour, at the top of the hour.
Observe legislators participate in hearings, meetings, and work on laws that affect you. See meeting schedules and locations in video displays in each building
Tour the Capitol Campus , see the Governor’s mansion, the sundial, and other sites.

The day will be filled with fun and opportunities for learning
You will learn how legislation is enacted and how it impacts your life on an every day basis
You will see first-hand how state politics works through tours, panel discussions and lectures.
You will have the unique opportunity speak to your elected officials face to face, express your concerns and listen to their positions on issues important to you and your family.

Here are some ways you can prepare for 2011 WA Muslims Day at the Capitol:
Talk to your family and friends and have them register. The Day at the Capitol will be a great activity for the family!
Find your state legislators via http://www.leg.wa.gov and send each of them a note that you plan to visit their office on Jan. 18, 2011

Appointments:
Allow approx. 10 minutes to travel to your appointment
Arrive 5 minutes early to each appointment
Stay with your group which you will form in the morning. (Important note: Groups are assigned according to your legislative district.)
Your group will travel together to all of your three lawmaker meetings. Group leader will ensure that group stays together and arrives to appointments together and on time.
