The Seattle Police Department's (SPD) monthly Muslim, Sikh, Arab, and East African Advisory Council meeting was held on October 6, 2011.
Among the items discussed was a proposal by SPD to have the Council meetings held quarterly instead of monthly.
Another discussion item was a de-briefing of a law enforcement workshop held on Sept. 10, 2011, organized by the Council.
CAIR-WA Executive Director Arsalan Bukhari offered to have SPD officers participate in CAIR-WA's community presentations, to discuss officers' perspectives during these presentations. This offer was accepted and resulted in a collaborative "Know Your Rights" presentation on Oct. 8, 2011, with many more to come.
Next month's meeting will be held on November 3, 2011 from 6:30pm-8pm in the SPD's "Park 95" Training Unit, located just south of downtown Seattle.
