CAIR-WA is excited to welcome Lori Slimp who joins our staff as Operations Coordinator. Lori's first day was July 26th, and she is already diving into her new position. Lori will coordinate human resources, finances, events, administration and office management for CAIR-WA. She is passionate about combating Islamophobia and promoting civil rights, and very is excited to have the opportunity to assist CAIR-WA in this important work.
Lori graduated from American University in 2009 with a BA in International Studies. Her areas of focus in college were the Middle East and Islamic Studies, with a special interest in the intersection of religion and peacemaking. She spent a semester abroad at the American University in Cairo, where she studied Arab politics, modern history, and religion as well as the Arabic language. She first became involved with CAIR as an intern at CAIR Chicago during college. She has also interned with Hands Along the Nile Development Services, a non-profit that works to improve American-Egyptian cultural understanding.
