It was really encouraging to hear from successful Muslims who are in a field other than Engineering,
Medicine, and Computers. It was also great bonding with the other fellow MYLPers!

First I would like to say, that I truly have missed everyone since participating in MYLP last summer.
It was an incredible experience getting to know all of the participants and experiencing the program
together. MYLP helped me understand the importance of Muslim youth evolving into world leaders
and contributing to the world their skills, compassion, and dreams. I encourage each and every Muslim
youth in the greater Seattle area to participate in MYLP, it is truly an incredible program that I felt lucky
to be a part of. Plus, how else can you visit the [local NPR] radio station, see a city council official, talk to
the Seattle Times editor, meet Dow Constantine, be on TV and MORE in just a few days” ?!

MYLP was a truly unforgettable experience. It allowed me to open up my mind and consider different
ways that we as young adults could give back to our communities while positively representing Islam
along the way. The connections we built were amazing, and, most importantly, being crammed in cars
with crazy drivers/running like wild people through the streets of Seattle to make it in time to our next
meetings were memories that I don't think I could have made anywhere else!

My experiences with global leaders have inspired me to become a catalyst for social change and to help
others realize their goal. I strongly encourage every Muslim youth to take part in this program. We are
very well aware that we’re living in very curial times and the many of the decisions we are making today
will have profound influence upon our societies and the world that we’re living in. The perception of the
youth is as much important as the elder generations since it is the youth who is going to reconfigure the
world. I believe we as young people are very well aware of the fact that leadership is lacking in today's
leaders. I hope MYLP will open the gate of opportunities for the Muslim youth.

This was truly one of the best summer experiences of my entire life. I would do it every year if I were given the opportunity. I promise you will have experiences and meet people through this program that you would never be able to do otherwise. What makes it even better is that you are with a group of Muslim youth like yourself who are all in this program for similar reasons, and you can really bond over what you are learning and seeing in a way that would be impossible with any other group of people. You will be exposed to careers that you never knew existed and places where you never thought Muslims could work, and you will learn why it is important to have Muslims in exactly those fields. This program will inspire you, and even if you don't find your academic or career calling, you will learn so much that is valuable to you and to our community.

The MYLP program was surprisingly much more eye-opening than I had expected. With an amazing group of peers, we explored the greater Seattle area as we met with successful Muslim businessmen, lawyers, advertising agents, and even King County Executive Dow Constantine! I gained a new perspective on the opportunities I have to succeed in the real world while still being able to maintain my Muslim identity. MYLP gave me great networking opportunities and a new set of Muslim students I can now call my friends! I definitely recommend this program to all bright, eager, Muslim young adults!

At first when I signed up for MYLP I didn't know what I had gotten myself into. After attending the first day, and having the opportunity to visit leaders in the community, I realized that this experience could only help me become not only a better Muslim, but a better leader too. The MYLP was tons of fun because we got to experience so many different things. For example, Cathy Allen thought me to 'smile with my eyes', and we got to visit Seattle University Law School and University of Washington Law School, and much, much more! It made me start to think about stepping out of my comfortable bubble and explore more career options and life styles. I got the chance to meet so many talented, inspiring, and unique people through this program (and I'm not just talking about the people we went to go see). We had come into the program not knowing each others names but by the end of MYLP all the participants were super close! I can honestly say that MYLP was the best thing I did the summer of 2010!
